Made fit for al fresco

A shopping and restaurant parade on Colliers Wood high street has been given a makeover by Merton Council, in a bid to improve dining out and evening entertainment in the area for local residents.

A survey carried out by the council found that a large number of residents felt that eating out and options for evening entertainment were lacking in the vicinity.

Improvements to the parade included fixing potholes on the three-metre wide forecourt in front of two restaurants to allow for al fresco dining, brand-new store fascias in keeping with a specific design and the restoration of shop-front ornamental columns.

The council also put in new drainage under the Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) scheme, to prevent water pooling on the forecourt.
