Solar drive launches second phase

Merton Council will offer its residents and business owners another chance to buy affordable solar panels, with the phase two launch of the 'Solar Together London' scheme.

In partnership with the mayor of London, Merton joins 10 other London boroughs working together to unlock savings from solar panel suppliers.

After residents register to take part in the scheme, a group of pre-approved suppliers take part in a ‘reverse auction’ (where prices are driven down by competition between suppliers) to provide panels to interested residents and businesses.

Leader of the council, Stephen Alambritis, said: "It is good to see so many Merton residents have already taken advantage of the Solar Together scheme. I urge all eligible households which have not yet signed-up to do so.

"Solar panels not only help residents to cut their energy bills – but also provide a local, clean supply of energy, helping Merton to become an even more sustainable borough."
